Daily updates: Nigerians Don't Allow Looters To Rule Again - Osinbajo

Don’t Allow Looters To Return To Power- Osinbajo

Dailysunnews9ja

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Sunday admonished Nigerians not to allow persons who had in time past looted the treasury of the country to return to power.

Osinbajo while speaking during a courtesy visit to the Oloja of Epe, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun as part of the next level engagement, urged electorates to vote massively come Saturday, February 16.

The vice president urged Nigerians to shun the plans of some looters who he claimed are planning to regain power.

While citing the achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, the vice president reminded Nigerians of the several initiatives that had already been implemented by the government.

Osinbajo cited the initiatives of the government to create job opportunities as; as the N-Power, TraderMoni and Markey Money, among others, as well as provision of critical infrastructure.

In his words, Nigeria’s vice president said; “At the next level government, aside from all these initiatives, we also want to establish Entrepreneur Bank and Peoples Money Bank to complement the Bank of Industry.

What we have realized is that we need to create several avenues for people to access funds to set up their businesses, and thereby create opportunities for more jobs. Already, we are in partnership with the Africa Development Bank (AFDB) to invest $500 million in creating jobs.

“All these things out to have been done before now, but corruption has prevented us from enjoying these things. We are at a point that we need to tell ourselves the truth because the country ought to have moved far ahead of where we are.

If the leaders are corrupt, there is nothing that can move. It is not as if there is no idea to move this country forward. As a matter of fact, there are several ideas but corruption has refused to allow these ideas to come into fruition.

“Take for example, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway; it did not take them three years when it was constructed but for 16 years, the PDP government could not fix it and they were budgeting money for the road every year.

The APC government is now doing it with the right funding, the same thing with several rail projects across the country.“

While commending Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the massive infrastructural renewal embarked upon by his administration in the Epe division, the Vice President assured that serious attention would be given to remaining roads connecting Lagos to Ogun State to facilitate ease of movement and boost commerce.

“I have to thank our Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode who has shown a pattern of serious hard work. I have been here a couple of times with the Governor to see the infrastructural renewal ongoing here and I have to thank God for helping him to achieve this much for Epe.

“There is nothing we see here that is not good. Every of his project here is good and commendable,” Osinbajo said.

Also speaking, Governor Ambode, who also accompanied the vice president to embarked on door-to-door campaign in Epe, urged residents to troop out on election day and vote massively for all APC candidates.

“You know where my heart is. For me, it is four plus four. So, on February 16, it shall be APC all the way from Presidency to Senate and House of Representatives.

“Whatever you want to do because of me, just know that it is APC all the way from top to bottom,” Governor Ambode said.

Election 2019: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Call All Nigerians To Vote Against PDP

Election 2019 :Yemi Osinbajo Call On Nigerians To Vote Against PDP

Election 2019: Yemi Osinbajo Call On Nigerians To Vote Against PDP Nigerians have been advised by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, against voting for the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming general elections.

In his statement, he claimed that PDP is desperate to win the election so as to loot the country. The Vice President stated that the country’s economy would have collapsed if not for President Muhammadu Buhari’s honesty.

He claimed that only an honest and selfless leader can be trusted with the nation’s wealth. In spite of the barrage of attacks by eminent Nigerians and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

castigating the Tradermoni policy, Osinbajo described the scheme as “one of the major policies of President Buhari’s government, because it was centred around the youths and poor Nigerians”.

Osinbajo stated this in Ado Ekiti during a Roundtable and Mentorship Programme on Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSME) in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

The Tradermoni programme was disbursed in Ado Ekiti metropolis, Ikere and Omuo Ekiti all in Ekiti State. He also visited Iworoko Ekiti, where a trailer rammed into a market and killed 15 persons a couple of weeks ago, to commiserate with indigenes of the town.

He said the government will establish special microfinance banks namely: People’s Money Bank and Entrepreneurial Bank to drive the Tradermoni and Market mini policies, where beneficiaries will get between N100,000 and N500,000 to establish MSME to drive the economy.

“Many of our leaders are not responsible, so Nigeria needs an honest man to lead the people and President Buhari is doing just that. Don’t allow anybody to deceive you.

President Buhari is an honest man, Our problem in this country is that many of our leaders are stealing our money, so you must disallow them from coming to power again,” he said.

He said Ekiti will benefit from Lagos-Kano railway line that is underway when completed, saying this project was targeted at strengthening the economy of each of the benefiting states.

“Rather than stealing money, President Buhari is doing more in strengthening the youths through N-Power, Tradermoni, School Feeding Programme, Lagos-Kano rail line, Calabar—Asaba-Abuja Railway line, among others.

All these are meant to benefit Nigerian masses.

“As we speak, 500,000 Nigerians are benefiting from N-Power, but we are not going to stop at that. Soon, the number will increase.

“The Next Level of our government is to give loans to women, youths and another sector through the Special banks that are underway to make lives easy for the masses,” he stated.

The Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, while speaking called on Nigerians to vote for Buhari’s second term in office, if they want good values for their lives in terms of good governance and prudent management of the nation’s wealth.

Fayemi said the array of potentials and creativity of Ekiti have been showcased to the Federal Government, saying those with special skills shall continue to benefit patronage from the government.

“If you want better values for your lives, if you need a government that will be compassionate and resourceful, then vote For Buhari/Osinbajo in the next election.
“The good livelihood of Ekiti people is dear to Buhari’s government and with the APC in the saddle, Ekiti will continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

“In four months that will come into power, we have paid four salaries and pensions are paid regularly, so you have seen that we are different to the government of the past,” he said.

Re-elect Buhari to have presidency in 2023 - Osinbajo to southwest.

From Vice President Yemi Osinbajo  to the Southwest yesterday came a piece of advice: vote President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 2019 election to stand a good chance of producing his successor in 2023.

Osinbajo spoke in Oyo during a visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.

The vice president said onus is on the Southwest to show that  it wants to produce the president in 2023.

Buhari, according to him, has performed well to deserve a second term in office.

“The 2019 election is our own. We are not looking at 2019 but 2023,” he said.

“If we get it in 2019, Yoruba will get it in 2023. Because if we don’t get it in 2019, we may not get it in 2023 and it may take a very long time to get it.

“We need to look at tomorrow and not because of today. What we are doing now is for tomorrow and not for today.”

He said Buhari has shown that he has  zero tolerance for corruption.

His words: “What I know about Buhari is that he is an honest man. What he says he will do, he will do it.”

He urged the people of the Southwest to reject the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Now, they are regrouping. These are the people that ruled for 16 years and they say they want to come back again. They are corrupt. Though, it is still difficult because no man or woman can build a house without a foundation,” he said.

Oba Adeyemi earlier in his address described Vice President Osinbajo as a cerebral lawyer who has excelled in his profession.

He said, “He is a good lawyer. The case he instituted on behalf of Lagos State when the federal government withheld the local government allocations in Lagos State during the Obasanjo regime, he won the case. And it was Yar’Adua that paid the money. The load you are carrying is big, Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, you will succeed.”

APC Postpones Governorship Campaign In Kwara Over Insecurity

The Kwara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday postponed its plan to launch Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s governorship election campaign over insecurity problem.
The campaign was scheduled to hold in Kosubosu, the headquarters of the Baruten Local Government Area of the state, before the abrupt cancellation.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kosubosu is a border community with the Republic of Benin which is a journey of more than five hours from Ilorin.
Journalists and party supporters had gathered on Thursday morning for the political journey when a member of the Media Committee, Kayode Oyin-Zubair, conveyed the decision of the party to the media men.
NAN findings revealed that the party postponed the programme due to an alleged plan by some thugs to scuttle the event.
However, Mr Kehinde Musa, a party supporter in Kosubosu, expressed dismay over the postponement of the governorship campaign.
Musa noted that a mammoth crowd had gathered in Kosubosu to receive the APC governorship candidate before the information was relayed to them.
He stated that the massive APC supporters in the area would file out again when next the party decided to meet the people.
Meanwhile, Kwara APC chairman, Mr Bashir Bolarinwa, who expressed regret over the suspension in a statement on Thursday, blamed the postponement on ‘incontrovertible security reports.’
“The manifesto presentation ceremony of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, which was expected to witness a mammoth attendance today (Thursday) in Kosubosu, Baruten Local Government Area, was regrettably called off due to very strong and incontrovertible security reports.
“As a responsible party, we put the protection of the lives of our teeming party members and indeed enthusiastic supporters who were waiting to line our routes above other considerations.
“We, therefore, use this opportunity to appeal to our party faithful for the inconveniences caused them as many had already gathered at various departure points,” Abdulrazaq said.
He also announced that the party had taken full charge of the campaign structures, processes and activities for the purpose of delivering an effective mobilisation of all Kwarans for the victory of the party.
He said that a new date for the campaign take-off would be announced soon

President Buhari during the opening ceremony of the meeting said he believes that military strategy must be complemented by the mobilisation and deployment of adequate resources.

According to him, this will ensure reconstruction, rehabilitation, and rebuilding of civil authority and provision of relief to affected persons.

The meeting holds a month after President Buhari traveled to N’djamena Chad to convene a similar meeting to review the security situation and intensify the efforts to end the insurgency in the region.

Nigerian Army suspends UNICEF activities in North East

Dailysunnews9ja

The Nigerian army has suspended the activities of the United Nations International Children Education Fund, UNICEF, in the north-eastern part of the country.

The army accused UNICEF of working for Boko Haram insurgents.

In a statement by Onyema Nwachukwu, Deputy Director, Public Relations of the army, the military said it took the action since the organisation had been sabotaging the war against insurgency.

“The Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE has observed with dismay that some of the activities of International humanitarian agencies and Non-governmental organisations’ operating in the North East have left so much to be desired,” the statement read.

“There is credible information that some of them are indulging in unwholesome practices that could further jeopardise the fight against terrorism and insurgency, as they train and deploy spies who support the insurgents and their sympathisers.

“It is baffling to note that some of these organisations have been playing the terrorists’ script with the aim to continue demoralising the troops who are doing so much to protect the lives of victims of Boko Haram Terrorism and safe guard them from wanton destruction of property and means the of livelihood. The Theatre Command considers the actions of these organisations as a direct assault and insult on the sensibilities of Nigerians, as they tend to benefit more from expanding the reign of terror on our people.

“Consequently, the Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE is suspending the operations of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in the North East theatre until further notice. This has become inevitable since the organisation has abdicated its primary duty of catering for the wellbeing of children and the vulnerable through humanitarian activities and now engaged in training selected persons for clandestine activities to continue sabotaging the counter terrorism and Counter insurgency efforts of troops through spurious and unconfirmed allegations bothering on alleged violations of human rights by the military.”
