Kim Kardashian is no stranger to controversy but we bet she never saw this one coming.

The reality Tv star's newest venture is the shapewear had described as ‘inclusive and celebrates and enhances the shape and curves of women’, but the Japanese are not having it.

The Japanese kimono, traditionally a loose long-sleeved robe typically tied with a sash, dates back to 15th Century Japan and is mostly worn during special occasions.

Kim Kardashian’s use of the name for her shapewear has been termed ‘disrespectful’.

“We wear kimonos to celebrate health, growth of children, engagements, marriages, graduations, at funerals. It’s celebratory wear and passed on in families through the generations,” one Japanese woman, Yuka Ohishi, told the BBC.

“This shapewear doesn’t even resemble a kimono – she just chose a word that has Kim in it – there’s no respect to what the garment actually means in our culture.” She continued.

Kardashian West, who trademarked the Kimono brand last year in the US, has also filed trademarks for “Kimono Body“, “Kimono Intimates” and “Kimono World“.

Many people have taken issue with the fact that she trademarked a word of huge cultural significance in Japanese culture. Others were annoyed that the traditional garment now shares the same name as an intimate wear brand.


Using the hashtag #KimOhNo, they have taken to social media to protest the use of the name ‘Kimono’ which they described as a ‘disrespect to their traditional clothing’.

Barring any last minute change, the trial of Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, for alleged credit card fraud will begin at a Lagos high court today.

He will be arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which has slammed an 11-count charge against him.
Naira Marley effectively risks seven years in jail if found guilty in accordance with Section 33 (2) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2015.

The charge with suit number FHC/L/178C/19 was filed before a Lagos State High Court last Wednesday.
Some of the credit cards, according to the EFCC, bore the names- Nicole Louise Malyon, and Timea Fedorne Tatar.
The alleged crimes were in contravention of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act and the Cyber Crimes Act.


The charge read in part, “That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Raze (still at large), on or about the 11th day of December 2018, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired amongst yourselves to use Access card 42658840359191132 issued to persons other than you in a bid to obtain gain and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1)(b) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the Same Act.

“That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Raze (still at large), on or about the 10th day of May 2019, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, with intent to defraud possessed counterfeit card 4921819410257431 issued to Timea FedorneTatar and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 33(9) of Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015.”

The singer, who was detained on May 10, is controversial for repeatedly praising internet fraudsters, popularly called Yahoo boys, in his songs and on social media.

2019 Elections: 2baba Visits IGP, Pushes For Increase In Youth Voter Turnout

Nigerian music icon, Mr Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as 2Baba, paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on Wednesday, 13th February 2019.

2baba who is the founder of 2Baba Foundation and Ambassador, Vote Note Fight Campaign told the police boss that “Nigerian youth are saying NO to electoral violence. They have stated their firm resolve to shun violence during the February, 16th and March 2, 2019, general elections.”

According to 2Baba, Nigerian youths made these commitments to him during his activities on the Vote Note Fight Campaign in 2017, 2018 and 2019 to promote peaceful elections in the coming polls.

About the Vote Not Fight Campaign, 2Baba said: “The Vote Not Fight: Election No Be War is a non-partisan and youth-focused voter education campaign that has been promoting constructive youth participation in Nigeria’s political processes since the 2015 general elections.”

2Baba said that Nigerian youths under the auspices of the #VoteNotFight campaign made some demands from the police.


Some of the demands made according to 2baba include:

“The police should be fair to all political parties without any form of bias in the discharge of their responsibilities before, during and after the election day.

“The police should promptly arrest and prosecute all electoral offenders including political actors and elected officials without immunity.


“The police should provide adequate security during the voting process and do not allow ballot boxes and other election materials to be hijacked by politicians or hired political thugs.

“The police should train officers to be civil and allow every voter to exercise its constitutional rights without any form of intimidation or restriction during the election.

The police should work closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a rapid response to distress calls by voters, election officials and election observers.


The Vote Note Fight Campaign seeks to increase youth voter turnout and mobilize against hate speech, electoral violence and vote buying.

Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom proposed to his girlfriend Katy Perry on Valentine’s Day and she said yes!

The couple had posted the result of their proposal in a not-so-obvious fashion on Instagram earlier today.

I Never Meant Slapping Police- Teni Apologizes 

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Teniola Apata, popularly known by her stage name as Teni the entertainer has taken out time to apologise for wanting to slap police officers in her single titled “Case.”

The 25-year old crooner of “Case” was made to tender her apologies when some hefty-looking police officers allegedly challenged her for wanting to ‘slap them’.

Naija News reports that Teni Makanaki in a viral video she shared on her Instagram handle @tenientertainer, pleaded with the armed officers of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) that she was only joking when she said she would slap the police.

She furthered that the Police and officers are the friends of every citizen as she proceeded to hug the police officers.

Teni is a 25-year old entertainer and a sibling to the popular Niniola Apata who recently expressed her love for her man in one of her singles she titled “Banana.”

After her “Case” recorded a hit, Teni went ahead to also release another track which she titled “Uyo Meya.” Uyo Meya had since become a hit as it was released late last year with the track fast becoming a street anthem on the lips of many.

Falz finally speaks on two men who raped, filmed 23-year-old girl in Lekki 

Popular Nigerian rapper, Folarin Falana, known as Falz has finally reacted to the case of two men who allegedly raped and filmed a 24-year-old girl in Lekki,Lagos.

Reports making the rounds had it that the suspects; Don-Chima Enyinnaya George and Olusegun Rasak who were arrested in connection with the case of rape at Lekki area of Lagos were later set free by the police.

This has since stirred reactions online as Nigerians called for ‘Justice for rape victim’, Asking Falz to weigh into the case.

However, the force in a press statement signed by CSP Dolapo Badmus, PRO Zone 2 has debunked the reports, saying the suspects are still in police custody.

Falz reacting on his Instagram page condemned the justice system in Nigeria, describing it as corrupt.

He further called on everyone with a voice in Nigeria to lend their voice to the case and demand justice.

He said: “Our crooked and corrupt justice system makes everyone tremble that such a vile and despicable act of rape may go unpunished.

“However, Information reaching me is that the accused persons have been detained and The Department of Public Prosecutions will respond ASAP. We will not back down until justice is done.

“Everyone in a position of influence should do all they can to ensure this isn’t another case swept under the carpet because someone used “long leg” to jump above the law.

“Do not remain mute. This doesn’t have to happen to your sister or family member before you react!”

Cardi B Shows Support To The Imprisoned 21 Savage

Cardi B has become the latest big-name star to come to the defense of 21 Savage, who was arrested by immigration officials at the weekend.

The 26-year-old rapper was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Georgia after they alleged he’s a British citizen and has overstayed his United States visa, but Cardi has taken to her Instagram account to voice her support for the under-fire star.

She wrote on the photo-sharing website: “We will read and educate ourselves on this situation and we will take action! 21 did not come here illegally and was not caught doing anything illegal or doing any mischief! in fact, he has changed his whole life around and as ya’ll can see he’s been very positive in his actions and music! (sic)”.

Meanwhile, 21 Savage’s lawyer has vowed to fight for his release. The rapper’s legal team insisted his arrest was a civil law violation and also accused the authority of refusing to release their client on the bond of any amount. Lawyer Charles H Kuck criticized ICE’s actions, claiming they had proceeded following “incorrect information about prior criminal charges”.

What’s more, he said that the 26-year-old star – whose real name is She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph – “has never hidden his immigration status from the US government” as he applied for a new visa two years ago.

Police Arrested US Rapper Bow Wow

Popular US rapper, Shad Moss, popularly known as Bow Wow has been arrested over an alleged altercation with a woman on Saturday morning.

Bow Wow was arrested early Saturday following a fight with a woman in Midtown Atlanta.

Officer Jarius Daugherty, while giving an account of the incident, said the Woman narrated that Moss had assaulted her first.

“Officers were unable to determine the primary aggressor of the altercation, so both parties were charged with battery,” Daugherty said in a statement to CNN

The rapper’s attorney, Joe Habachy, also told CNN that Bow Wow was wrongfully arrested.

He said the woman involved in the incident was intoxicated and beat Moss “with a lamp, bit him on his side and spit on him” while he “continually made efforts to avoid her.”

“For no logical reason, officers arrested both parties despite having clear-cut evidence that Bow Wow was the victim in the case.

“Bow Wow feels very strongly that a man should never lay a hand on a woman, even in self-defence, hence his failure to defend himself here,” he added.

 The singer revealed to Falz that she is in love with someone he knows.

When Falz jokingly asked the singer who is her man friend?’ A shy Teni laughs hard before she finally opens up.

In her words; “Well we’ve been dating for a while, and we haven’t really talked about opening up in public”


Falz who couldn’t believe his ears laughed, then pressed harder “My friend give me something tangible, i need something serious”

“We’re dating both in real life, in the dream – every aspect possible, it’s Wizkid”

Meanwhile, during the conversation Falz also revealed his relationship status and why he hasn’t had a girlfriend in a very long time.

He said: “I have not had a girlfriend for a long time. I don’t really think about marriage like that but I have liked girls.”
